Echopaw finally reached her destination, not looking in the least bit tired despite her endless skipping. She surveyed the land, the place looking as ordinary as any other spot in the forest. I guess the transformation only happens when the moon's full, the Turkish Van thought lazily, shrugging mentally. She then dropped into a hunter's crouch, determined to impress Flightwing the second he got here.

When he had arrived, he saw a stretch of fur. Ah. She's clever too! But makes sure she knows how. I'll just watch her. He watched her from afar, not to disturb her.

Although Echopaw had been stalking around in her crouch, her muscles started cramping up after a while. It took a bit of effort to keep her tail level all the time, to keep her weight evened out, to keep her steps light so not to scare away the mice they were destined to hunt. . . What was taking Flightwing so long? She sighed softly and plomped down to the ground, probably sending an earthquake in the mice's direction.

"You took your sweet time!" Echopaw purred, trying not to sound as annoyed as she currently felt inside. She felt a small vein pulsing at the top of her head. "Anyways . . . on with hunting mice!" She dropped back into her crouch, keeping her feet light, weight even, tail out, head bent low. . .

"I know that!" Echopaw purred softly, but breathing in lighter all the same. She felt her heartbeat slow by just a fraction, allowing her to sense the quick heartbeats of mice. Were those even heartbeats? They felt like a hum, a purr of some sort. . . She mentally shook the thought from her head before pinpointing where exactly the mouse was. Behind that juniper bush, huh? The apprentice took a careful step forward, slowly stalking the rodent. She had to be careful, or it'd get away . . . along with her chance to impress Flightwing.

Echopaw jumped up into the air when she was close enough, using her strong legs to push off the ground. The mouse reacted to the sudden vibration and made to get away, but the apprentice was too quick. She pounced on the rodent's tail before biting it swiftly. It grew limp in her jaws, and she trotted over to Flightwing, waiting patiently for some praise.

"Thanks!" Echopaw meowed eagerly, a small smile gracing her lips. Suddenly, an anxious look dawned upon her face. "Uh, should we go back to camp right now and put it in the fresh kill pile before chasing birds, or do you want to catch a mouse too?"

Flightwing chuckled. When he had turned to the place Echowpaw was originally had been, he saw that the furball had gone. He smelled the scent of fresh cat leading towards the camp. Oh, that sneaky cat. Standing to his paws, he made a dash to catch up with her.
